He ended up just one number short of the then $2 billion prize. Instead, he wins a $1 million, which is just fine with him. “I’m not greedy,” he said.

TNT Hollywood Tavern in Salem sold him the winning ticket, which matched all five numbers but not the Powerball.

The numbers drawn Nov. 7 were 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, and the red Powerball was 10.

He dropped by a local store to scan his ticket and figured something was up when the terminal told him to see customer service.

the jackpot had grown to more than $2 billion. The $2 billion winning ticket was purchased in California.
